Experience

I started Make Good Studio because I wanted to contribute to the solution to global warming by utilising my design skills to create a better future, without compromising on aesthetics. In fact I think resourcefulness and limitations lead to more creative and unique outcomes.

Prior to starting Make Good Studio I worked within some of Melbourne’s top architecture and interior design studios. I gained experience designing some of Australia's most renowned hospitality venues as well as working on residential and creative studio fit outs.

For the last four years I was a lead senior designer at Foolscap Studio, a multidisciplinary interior architecture studio. Some highlight projects from my time there include:

  • A restaurant project in Sydney, Été, where I designed the interior as well as the brand name and graphic design direction.

  • A complete refurbishment of Domaine Chandon's flagship winery in the Yarra Valley. This project involved a lot of strategic thinking and testing to get the planning right and was a bold departure for the client. We found a way to integrate the retail experience with the tasting and dining areas resulting in a complete brand immersion across the large venue resulting in a more profitable and manageable venue for the client.

  • A highlight whilst at Foolscap Studio was working on the Noma Australia restaurant pop-up in Sydney. Whilst it was a temporary 3 month relocation of the famous Copenhagen restaurant, they still required a fully functioning restaurant and facilities in line with their fine dining style. Sustainability formed the basis of our design approach as we sought to reconcile the temporary space with all the materials and items needed to run it. Our solution was to use rammed earth for the main dividers within the dining space. All joinery and the facade were made from FSC local Spotted Gum plywood, with the joinery then repurposed into Foolscap Studio’s new Collingwood office, The Cloud.

  • At the heart of The Cloud is the kitchen I designed, using those repurposed Noma ones with additional cabinetry made to match. The kitchen also functions as a gathering area and becomes a flexible option for meetings and events.

  • I recently worked on the interiors for the latest Milieu apartment project: Brunswick East which will begin construction soon.

Prior to Foolscap Studio I spent several years at architecture firm Elenberg Fraser where I worked on many multi-residential projects and award winning hospitality venues. I’ve also worked in London, as an in-house retail designer for Debenhams, and for a small architecture studio in Colombia.
